The Centre for Cultural Studies is delighted to welcome three new colleagues who have recently joined our ranks.
First, we are pleased that MSCA fellow Rowland Chukwuemeka Amaefula has taken the long trip from Nigeria to become part of the Centre’s team in Graz. We have already introduced his highly interesting and timely research project, “Nigerian Practices of Male-to-Female Cross-Dressing: Exploring Gender Transgressions in Digital Youth Culture” here, and are excited to now engage with his findings in person. If you would like to learn more, the project abstract is available for download here.
In addition, two predoctoral positions within the framework of the European PhD-Net have recently been filled. We warmly welcome Hanna Gottlieb-Zimmermann, whose dissertation project, “History, Herstory, Their Story – Gendered Perspectives on Pregnancy and Birth in Personal and Scientific Writings from 17th-Century England”, brings fresh insights into early modern cultural history. We are equally delighted to introduce Lisa Schattmann, who is examining the burgeoning and highly popular genre of Romantasy in her dissertation entitled “Gender and Sexuality in Contemporary ‘Romantasy’ Literature”.
We look forward to the inspiring conversations, new perspectives and collaborative energy these projects will bring to the Centre in the months ahead. Most of all, we are excited to get to know our new colleagues better and to share many stimulating exchanges, both in and beyond the office, seminar rooms, and the coffee kitchen.
